When reflecting on the past year, it is interesting to see the impact technology has on the way we do things. Cell phones, tablets, and other devices have seen several new iterations, and the race between Apple and Android manufacturers such as Samsung have brought some exciting new applications to the table. When searching the App store for medical applications, it is amazing to see how many small applications have already been developed. W
hen moving towards more complex clinical service tools such as HealthOne, it is clear that clinical data and the interpretation and wider usage thereof have drastically risen in priority within the modern day practice. Medical schemes and even patients are asking for more and more detail when it comes to personal health status, hence the ripple effect this has on practices where it becomes very clear that the old paper file cannot carry on being the primary source of data storage. Patients are becoming more discerning and want to be able to interact with their doctors more readily. Data mining and interpretation can just simply not happen instantly. Storage space is expensive and archiving is a costly exercise which can, to a large extent, be prevented by adopting electronic clinical tools. HEALTHone is the ideal tool for practices to ensure that the principles of good record keeping are adhered to and, at the same time, have access to patients' clinical information in a safe and secure manner. In the next quarter, HEALTHone Connect will be released to the broader market, and this web based solution will be the ideal tool for the GP market.
Our traditional main products – Me+, Elixir, and Mastermed, have released several new enhancements. All of these products utilize cloud services to manage and distribute tariff updates and even normal updates, which in the past, had to be done by hand. Times have changed, and we can now deliver online services quickly and efficiently.
By the time this newsletter reaches you, I am sure the 2013 tariff updating will have been done at your practice. We have spent a lot of development time last year to ensure the experience on your side will be smooth and easy. Tariffs are complex and require a large amount of work on the raw scheme data before you can use it effectively. We have assumed the responsibility to do most of this development work for you. We are delighted to inform you that by the 7th January 2013 we already released approximately 82.4% of our tariff release (price files) received from Administrators and Schemes. We believe that tariffs 2013 was less demanding, less stressful and less time-consuming for our clients. Please inform us of your experience, as we are always open for new suggestions.
If you are in possession of scheme specific contracts that are not reflecting on our website or in the files distributed, please let us have them. We are reliant on schemes to provide us with all of their arrangements, but it may happen that we have not received some. Please communicate this to your closest Region in order for us to investigate and provide feedback.
As part of our drive towards delivering a more efficient service, we have adopted a lot of new services in the cloud, and you now share in the savings it brings about. Our teams will also be utilising the latest state of the art technologies in remote support to speed up the critical response and resolution times.
Thanks to these initiatives together with a critical view on cost savings, we once again managed to curb our expenses and I am happy to announce a nominal 5.6% annual increase in pricing. This will be effective 1 March 2013 and will reflect on the March debit orders. We have managed to keep the pricing on our PIN pad devices stable and are absorbing most of the increased costs (Rand / Euro fluctuations have a direct influence on our purchasing price). The pricing on these devices will remain unchanged!!
