2009 has come to an end and we have made it! We have survived the worst part of the recession and things are slowly starting to look up. Thank you once again to all our clients, staff and our business partners for your support and confidence in our business and our people – we serve with pride!

South Africa is pulsating with excitement for the 2010 World Cup and I think that it sets a very positive tone for the year ahead. Great things are on the verge of coming to South Africa and I can’t wait to see how things turn for the better!

2010 marks the start of a new decade and with it brings great change, just like the change our forefathers experienced during the Renaissance. This was a period of radical change in literature, art, religion, philosophy, politics and science, thus advancing man from the medieval way of thinking to a more modern one.

I strongly believe that change is inevitable but change can be managed and you can stay in step with it, or even stay ahead of it by being aware of your environment, being flexible and equipping yourself with the right tools.

With the possible introduction of the NHI in the near future, many people in the medical industry feel uncertain, as it will open doors to an uncharted world. Basic processes will change and we will all have to adopt a different approach to service delivery, patient profiling and peer reviews. Medical accounting will undergo a huge make over, and billing will have to be re-worked to manage a capitated, and potential top-up insurance environment – all changing and affecting the way private healthcare has operated up to now.

We at Med-e-Mass are keeping a very close eye on what is happening when, where, and how and you can be assured that we are working hard to insure that all our clients come out on top no matter what changes occur. We will be there all the way – whether it happens in 2010, or in the following years.

As usual, we are searching and digging as deep as we can to get our hands on anything and everything that will ensure a smooth migration on tariffs from 2009 to 2010. Be assured that we will enable your practice with the updates as soon as we get hold of it.

To make sure we end 2009 with a bang we held a Swipe to Shop promotion for all our Edcon Card Solution clients whereby weekly prizes were awarded to practices with the most swipes per week. Congratulations to those winners. We hope you enjoy your shopping vouchers!

The promotion ended with a grand finale on the 21st of Decembe, with one lucky practice winning Edgars Vouchers to the value of R5 000!
