Tips to avoid chargeback’s:

Minimum guidelines for accepting credit card payments!

1. Obtain an imprint because it is your proof that the
card was present!

On any manual (zip-zap machine) face-to-face transaction when the magnetic stripe cannot be read.
When you do a manual key entered transaction.
A fax. Photocopy or scan is not regarded as an imprint.

2. Make sure that the voucher is signed by the cardholder!

Credit cards are not transferable, even among family members. The card can only be used by the person whose name is embossed on the front of the card.

3. Reconcile your daily settlement!

By doing this you will ensure that transactions are processed correctly

4. Phone your authorisation centre for authorisation!

Obtain an authorisation for every transaction over the floor limit (Sometimes your electronic device will not provide you with one.)

Do not accept an authorisation code from the cardholder
The customer cannot phone for one on your behalf

5. Compare signatures!

Compare the signature on the back of the card with that on the sales voucher.

6. Check the cards expiry dates

Make sure the date of the charge falls within the two dates embossed on the card.

7. Do not use your own credit card at your business
to generate funds!

8. Adhere to the rule and regulations as set out in your merchant agreement!

9. Provide copies of sales vouchers within the retrieval
request timeframes!

Return copies of sales vouchers promptly.
