Appointment Diary
The Appointment Diary allows for unlimited resources i.e. doctors, technicians, rooms or equipment. It enables the user you to manage their day-to-day procedures from one central point. The following actions can be performed from the Appointment Diary: Patient bookings
- Acknowledgement of patient arrivals
- Invoicing and dispensing
- Statements and / or immediate real-time claims
If working in a clinic environment the admissions, discharges and billing can all be done from the admissions and discharges form.
Recalls
The powerful Recall facility allows the practice to recall patients treated in a certain date range. Patients can also be recalled by treatment or diagnosis codes. This feature can even be used for credit control purposes by recalling accounts by the date the account holder promised to pay.
Memos
Memos are attached to the Appointment Diary, Transactions, Account file, Patient file and Medical aid file. This feature assists in the credit control and file management routines. Memos can be printed at any time and has a date and time stamp to assist in accurately logging every contact.
Clinic Features
Clinic features allows the user to handle Patient Admissions and Discharges with ease, and to produce Invoices on Theatre and Ward Stock. As with the appointment diary one can use the Patient Admission screen as the focal point of the program to ensure maximum efficiency.
Automated Transactions: Bulk Posting
ME+ supports Bulk Posting features where the user can create Debit, Credit or Mixed transaction batches and verify their values before posting.
Automated Transactions: Macros
Macros (with the ability to attach modifiers and diagnosis codes) are easily set up to speed up debit transaction posting. Specific codes like a syringe, needle and swab can be linked to each other in a macro and posted using a single selection.
Payment Plans
Payment plans helps the practice set up payment terms for patients who choose to pay off an account. Full reports are kept of what has been paid and what is outstanding.
Interest
Interest groups are set up to automatically calculate and post interest on overdue accounts.
Reports: Standard
The comprehensive range of customisable reports cover most areas of practice management including Patient Listings, Balancing mechanisms i.e. Audit Trails, Financial reporting for Debtors and Creditors, Stock and Sales reports. Most reports can reflect the daily, monthly and yearly activities.
Reports: Advanced
All reports have a multitude of filters that can be applied to get the statistics required. An infinite number of report selections can be saved for future use and all reports can be printed to screen or paper. All reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and are based on 15 years experience of Doctors’ and Accountants’ requirements.
Procedural, Diagnostic and Other Industry Codes
ME+ caters for all industry requirements. The available functionality includes the complex pricing structures currently required where each medical scheme might require different pricing structures, as well as automatic modifiers, assistant fees, anaesthetist fees and levy calculations.
In situations where multiple tariffs are used the user can set up either macros or linked codes to assist in fast and accurate capturing.

Specific code sets can be selected for specific medical aids, and multiple diagnostic and procedural code sets can be used on one system.
Diagnostic Codes
ME+ has its own Diagnosis Browser that lists all ICD-10 or ICPC codes with a search function that displays all the possible matches for diagnosis.
It also lists the ICD-10 Inclusions and Exclusions for each diagnostic code. The browser has Primary indicator functionality, indicating male and female codes as well as dagger and asterix codes.
Electronic Claiming
ME+ supports electronic claim submissions in batch or real-time via DHS, Mediscor, MediKredit, Switch and HealthBridge.
Claims can be submitted in real-time to MediKredit or Mediscor for assessment and immediate responses.
With MediKredit, discounts applicable will automatically be posted and patient portions will be moved to the correct liability.
Batch claims are the quick and easy way to submit claims on a daily basis with confirmation of receipt stored per transaction.
Full EDI history is kept per transaction item and the dates as well as any reference numbers are stored. When a transaction is rejected, the reason and appropriate action is logged and listed. Confirmation is also stored at this level.
Statements
Me+’s Cyclical Statement printing option keeps track of printed statements and allows the user to print only unprinted statements at the end of the day, week, or month. A full history is kept of when a statement was printed for each account and what the value of that statement was.
Dispensing and Prescribing
When dispensing or prescribing medication the user is able to select between generic, MMAP and MPL drug lists as well as make use of formulary pricing when relevant.
Stock Invoicing specific to Clinics is catered for and includes billing of Theatre, Ward, Pharmacy and Take Out Invoices, accommodation, gasses, and many more.
Management of the Stock Inventory is simplified by means of the Creditor and Stock modules. These modules allow for multiple stock locations or dispensaries, which is ideal for in Clinic environments.
ME+ can accommodate multiple Medical Aid Formularies. The formulary price on medication per service provider can be changed by selecting the formularies required. The user also has to option to charge the MMAP or MPL prices.
Debtors, Creditors and Stock Control modules
Fully integrated Debtors, Creditors and Stock Control modules.
Capturing Creditors’ invoices will adjust Stock on hand and update the batch numbers, expiry dates and cost price of each item.
Dispensing scripts automatically adjusts the Stock out and picks from the batch that will expire first. Re-order Lists, Expiry Reports or Creditors Reports to check the value of stock on hand and accounts payable can be printed at any time. The unique Stock Bins concept can also keep track of stock per surgery or department.
Security Levels
Multiple security levels allow for user-restricted access to different parts of the program. User defined passwords and user rights allow and disallow access to specific functions.
The secure Login with a Username and Password provides the ability to set up User Groups like Reception, Accounting and Doctors with access limited to these groups. Functions to certain groups like EDI, Payments or Deleting can be allocated or limited. In addition, the Menus per User Group can be customised to simplify the program for users that only use limited features.
Networking
The unique networking capabilities of ME+ allow for fast and efficient use across either Local Area Networks (LAN) or Wide Area Networks (WAN) without the need of additional networking software or database engines.
By making use of a Terminal Client, the program can be accessed from anywhere in the world via either a dial-up connection or Internet access at the cost of a local phone call. Users can access their data at the office, print reports, capture transactions and even run month end procedures remotely,
ME+ runs on multiple operating systems connected to a single LAN (Local area network) or WAN(Wide area network). Because ME+ can run a multi-tier network, the user has the option of using Windows or MS-DOS terminals (Character terminals) to connect to the same database on the same network.
Customising
ME+ offers application customisation options for any medical discipline or user preference. These options range from statement and reporting preferences to account numbering styles. The speciality specific options allows the user to enable features that will otherwise be hidden, for example: a Dental practitioner or Dispensing practice.
Efficiency
The Appointment Diary, Patient file or Account file can be used as the focal point of the program and all transactions can be posted from there. This feature optimises efficiency of reception personnel, accounting staff, and doctors using the program.
All lookup screens feature a dynamic lookup function which instantly guide the user to the closest match while typing regardless of the volume of data to look through.
Code Categories and Cost Centers can be used to group together sets of procedural codes for reporting purposes. This allows the user to accurately transfer totals to Ledgers or help with budgeting.
Stable and easy to support
The ME+ program has proven its stability in the market. Most of its components are kept separate from those of the operating system, which makes it a independent from the operating system. If Windows is upgraded or reloaded, the impact on ME+ is minimal. If data is backed up to a re-writeable C, the program can be initialised and run directly from the CD.
Navigation within the program
Although ME+ is Windows driven, the program can be used virtually without the use of a mouse, thus speeding up data capturing. By navigating with the Tab, Enter, or arrow keys on the computer keyboard all fields and tabs can be accessed, including all the endless available functions like Add, Edit, Duplicate and print simply by using the ME+ function keys. Shortcut icons have Function key shortcuts to enable speedy keyboard access.
Multi-tasking
Incorporating true multi-tasking functionality, ME+ can execute requested procedures such as statement and print runs, while the user carries on with normal day to day activities in the program.
Help Files
The Help files provides the user with short help topics and full Windows-style help files. By holding down the CTRL key and clicking with the right mouse button on a specific item, ME+ will display the Help file page where the relevant information is located.
DHSwitch
DHSwitch’s core business lies in the switching of transactions between various medical practitioners and institutions. Primarily, the business offers the ability for a medical practitioner to submit an electronic claim, on behalf of the patient, through to the patient’s medical scheme. Claims can be submitted in both real-time and in batch modes.
DXS
Interfacing with DXS provides the user with up to date suggested medications, and medication and patient information leaflets that can be e-mailed directly to patients.
Hospiformance
An interface developed to typically allow Clinics to import a price update file for medication and consumables.
MediKredit
MediKredit is South Africa’s first Health electronic Management (HeBM™) company that offers financial and clinical risk management services to funders and service providers at the point of service for the patient / member. The interface with MediKredit provides on-line real-time management of healthcare transactions.
Mediscor
Mediscor is a PBM that is used by all retail pharmacies in the country for contracted schemes, while DHS leads the South African healthcare market in electronic connectivity. DHS is the only online real-time claims switching facility that is linked to pharmacies, independent PBM’s, medical schemes and doctors.
Medprax
The ME+ interface with Medprax facilitates the electronic import and update of pharmaceutical products and their prices as well as Medical Aid information.
TurboCASH Accounting
The TurboCASH Accounting package is aimed at small- to medium-sized businesses. With the ME+ interface, the user is able to export Debtors and Creditors figures from ME+ into TurboCASH from where its full accounting features can be used.
